Role Overview
The Medical Liaison Manager serves as the primary field-based scientific contact for internal and external stakeholders across the Nordics. In this role, you provide non-promotional scientific and educational support, contribute to the regional medical strategy, and deliver insights that help shape clinical and commercial planning.
A key focus is identifying and engaging thought leaders in neuromuscular rare diseases, especially Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and building long-term, collaborative partnerships. You will deliver scientific presentations, support medical education, and ensure clear and compliant communication with healthcare providers.
The role also involves supporting local market access activities in collaboration with the Value & Access Lead and ensuring treatment readiness through cross-functional teamwork. We are looking for a highly organized, solution-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and can effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
The position can be based in Denmark, Sweden, or Norway and reports to the Nordic Medical Affairs Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with current and future Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and relevant healthcare stakeholders.
- Provide medical and scientific information in response to KOLs’ technical questions regarding the molecule or drug.
- Identify and engage key TLs, HCPs, and investigators in scientific discussions about the disease landscape and company assets.
- Represent the organization at selected scientific congresses and professional society meetings.
- Deliver clinical presentations and address unsolicited questions (as appropriate) to academic and healthcare audiences, both in group and one-on-one settings.
- Support and conduct medical education events as requested by healthcare professionals.
- Develop a deep understanding of the treatment landscape, key stakeholders, and healthcare dynamics in your assigned territory.
- Maintain and update the Patient and Treatment Journey.
- Develop and execute strategic territory plans aligned with the broader medical strategy.
- Capture meaningful insights from KOLs and report them back to the company to support clinical and commercial strategy development.
- Serve as the primary liaison for investigators participating in investigator-sponsored trials.
- Generate insights from local registries and other valuable data sources.
- Support local tactical activities, such as covering scientific presentations or working with contracted local consultants.
- Conduct market landscape assessments and competitive intelligence, including monitoring therapeutic trends, unmet needs, and emerging scientific information.
- Respond to external inquiries with accurate clinical and scientific information.
- Operate ethically and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Complete mandatory training within required timelines and adhere to new SOPs, policies, and guidelines when issued.
- Follow internal processes and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform additional duties as needed based on evolving business needs.
Qualifications
- Advanced doctoral degree (MD, PhD, PharmD).
- Relevant experience, preferably within rare diseases.
- Minimum of 5 years of Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry—preferably in an MSL role or a headquarters-based Medical Affairs position.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare system, including treatment pathways, diagnostics, and reimbursement structures within your country or region.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and engage in credible scientific exchange with diverse audiences.
- Excellent networking skills and confidence in interacting with senior experts on a peer-to-peer level.
- Strong knowledge of legal, regulatory, and compliance frameworks related to industry interactions with healthcare professionals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present medical and scientific information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Biotech experience is an advantage.
- Fluency in English and either Danish, Swedish, or Norwegian.
