WHAT TO THINK ABOUT DURING A RECRUITMENT PROCESS
Our recruiters best tips during a recruitment process
- Be prepared - When you are looking for a new job opportunity it’s important to have in mind which positions and companies you have applied for. If a recruiter contacts you for a specific job it’s important to be prepared and to show a genuine interest in that specific position, for example by asking questions about the job. A good idea is to prepare those questions before you get contacted.
- Apply directly when you find an interesting job – In many recruitment processes continuous selection is used. It means that recruiters can quickly move on with a few candidates in the process even though the ad is still published. To increase your chances of getting the position, it’s therefore important to apply early in the process.
- Only apply to positions where you meet most of the requirements – Sometimes it’s good to apply for positions even though you don’t meet all the requirements for the job, but it’s important that you fulfil the most important ones. If you repeatedly apply for jobs where you don’t meet any requirements you will waste a lot of time on processes where you anyway will be rejected. Since we know that you may only have a limited amount of time to apply for new positions, it is better for your sake to prioritize applying for positions where you meet most of the job’s requirements.
- Ensure that your references know that you have listed them as a reference for the specific job – If you have reached the reference step in a recruitment process, ensure that you give your references all the information that they need to make a good reference call. For example, it’s necessary to inform the references which position and company you have applied for. With this simple step, your references will be more prepared to answer the recruiters’ questions in a better way which will increase your chances of getting the job.
